Students of the Elmira Discipleship House will be immersed in a Christ-oriented Kingdom culture that will direct them towards a lifestyle of intimacy with Jesus. We believe that intimacy with God leads to relationship with people, and ministering in Christ’s love to people.
You were made to thrive, not to merely exist. When we find that we were made to be sons and daughters of God, we have found the Gospel of Jesus Christ alive in us.
As sons and daughters of God we represent one family of God. Our goal is to demonstrate to each other, to God, and to the world what a real Christ loving family looks like. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2). For, the world will know Christ sent us because of our unity (John 17).
House culture is set on a foundation of accelerated learning. Our 11 months of learning together is set on weekly “rhythms” that will equip students to:
Everyday living* + Personal Bible Study
Everyday living + Teaching @ 7:00pm
Everyday living + Discipleship Group @ 7:00pm
Everyday living + Meditation @ 6:30am
Everyday living + Prayer Walk
Saturday (1st and 3rd)
Outreach and Training 8:00am – 1:00pm
*Everyday living is your work/school. The Gospel was given to you so you could live in the power and love of Jesus Christ in the world. Some will be pastors or preachers, but most will not. Students are required to work minimum 20 hours per week for lifestyle training. Some exceptions.
Various Christ loving teachers with different backgrounds will come into the house to teach on a rotating weekly basis.
You say, “Is there really a need for another ministry that is centered on disciple-making? Isn’t that what the local church is doing?”
The answer is that there is always a need for new strategies to be employed for disciple-making. The Elmira Discipleship House is implementing a new tactic in this region, “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become MATURE, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12-13).
We are privileged to partner with local churches and church leaders in order to play our part in building up the body of Christ.
